Job Description
As our commercial projects continue to grow, we are looking for a Commercial Solar Designer & Account Manager to join our team.
This role combines solar system design, client communication and commercial project development.
Reporting to our Head of Commercial, you will work with commercial customers to design solar PV, battery storage and EV charging systems, helping turn enquiries into fully developed proposals and supporting the sales process through to project agreement with end users and contractors over a period of months or years.
This role is based at our office and warehouse in Reading, RG30.
This is an office-based role in Reading with the scope for hybrid working 1-2 days a week.
Key Responsibilities
• Designing commercial solar PV systems for rooftop and ground mounted installations
• Designing battery storage and EV charging solutions with PV designs
• Producing system layouts, performance estimates and proposals
• Supporting the preparation of quotes and technical documentation
• Working with the sales team to develop proposals for commercial enquiries
• Explaining system designs and technical details to customers
• Supporting the quoting process and helping move projects towards completion
• Acting as the main contact for commercial customers during the design stage
• Managing client relationships from enquiry through to project approval
• Helping customers understand the financial and technical aspects of their system
• Meeting relevant tender specifications, submitting tech subs and completing designs with relevant software e.g. K2 Base, PV Sol & ValkPVPlanner etc.
• Ensuring accurate information is passed into project delivery once a job proceeds
Requirements

Job description
We are seeking an experienced solar electrician to join the team on a permanent basis, operating out of our main office and warehouse in Reading (RG30). You will be installing domestic and commercial systems, typically within a 50-60 mile radius of Reading with typical work in Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and London.
The successful applicant must be a Level 2 or 3 qualified electrician, along with a Solar PV course (City & Guilds, BPEC, Logic). You should have at least 12 months’ experience of installing, commissioning and maintaining domestic solar PV systems. You may also have experience of installing commercial PV systems, as well as domestic battery storage systems.
You should ideally have a Working at Heights qualification, Asbestos Awareness & ECS /CSCS.
Additional Health and Safety Training will be provided. Additional product training (e.g. Tesla Powerwall and other home battery storage systems, different car chargers, different solar inverters) will also be provided.
Part of the role will be directly supporting our Head of Installations with domestic surveying ahead of the installation as well as being on the tools giving you full experience of the pre-sales, preparation and installation of PV and battery systems.
The final remuneration will be based on experience, further company benefits will be discussed.

Job description
We are seeking an experienced solar roofer to join our team on a permanent basis with ideally 1-2+ years experience. Sub-contractors may apply but our preference is directly employed long term.
We run our installation team from our head office and warehouse in Reading, RG30, this would be where you would travel to on daily basis unless it made sense to go directly to the site.
The successful applicant must have at least 12 months experience of installing solar panels on different types of roof ideally across domestic and commercial buildings. You should ideally have a Working at Heights qualification, asbestos awareness & CSCS. Additional training will be given with the intention of you becoming a roofing supervisor and gain SSSTS qualification.
As a guide you can expect to earn around £15-£18 per hour including bonuses for overtime and weekend work; the final rate will depend on experience.
You should be hard working, reliable and able to work in a team. The position also involves liaising with clients so it is also essential that you are presentable, polite and friendly.
This role requires a minimum of 45 hours work a week.

Job description
This is a field-based role. You will be the critical link between the sales process and the installation team, ensuring every job is accurately assessed, specified and documented before work begins. Your surveys directly determine whether an installation runs smoothly or not.
Key Responsibilities
PV & Battery Storage Site Surveys
Carry out pre-installation surveys at domestic properties across the South of England and Midlands, on occasion business premises / commercial where required.
Measure roof dimensions accurately and assess suitability for solar panel placement
Identify roof type, pitch, orientation, shading and structural considerations
Assess loft space, garage and external areas for battery storage and inverter placement
Determine the most practical and tidy cable routes from roof to consumer unit and battery/inverter location
Identify any cable run challenges including party walls, concrete floors, cavity walls and long distances
Assess meter cupboard and consumer unit location, condition and available space for new equipment
Confirm DNO supply capacity and note any visible limitations
EV Charger Surveys
Survey domestic properties for EV charger installation, covering cable routing from consumer unit to parking position
Assess external wall construction, cable containment options and charger location suitability
Flag any supply capacity or fuse size concerns that may affect installation
Kit and Equipment Planning
Select appropriate inverter and battery locations based on ventilation, access and aesthetics
Specify scaffolding requirements accurately, including any non-standard access needs (bay windows, conservatories, restricted access)
Identify equipment logistics requirements, including access for delivery vehicles and storage on site
Note any specific installation challenges for the installation team prior to visit
Customer Interaction
Conduct yourself professionally in customers' homes and communicate clearly throughout the survey visit
Answer technical and practical questions from customers regarding their system, installation process and expected disruption
Manage customer expectations regarding timescales, access requirements and post-installation appearance
Provide reassurance where customers have concerns about roof work, cable routing or equipment placement
Documentation and Reporting
Produce accurate, clear survey reports for use by the design and installation teams
Photograph & video all relevant areas including roof, loft, consumer unit, meter, cable routes and proposed equipment locations
Flag any issues that require further technical input or customer discussion before installation can proceed
Complete survey documentation on time to avoid delays to installation scheduling
Essential Requirements
Electrical background, with a working understanding of domestic electrical installations
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the South of England, and Midlands
Ability to work safely at height and comfortable working in loft spaces
Strong practical awareness of cable routing, containment and installation logistics
Confident communicator, able to work directly with homeowners in a professional manner
Organised and methodical, with good attention to detail in reporting
Comfortable using a tablet or phone-based survey tool and taking structured site photographs
Desirable Requirements
Previous experience in solar PV, battery storage or EV charger installation or surveying
18th Edition wiring regulations (BS 7671) qualification or equivalent electrical qualification
Knowledge of DNO application processes and G98/G99 requirements
Familiarity with scaffolding requirements and the ability to specify scaffolding accurately
Experience interpreting roof plans or working with design tools
Understanding of MCS standards and domestic solar installation requirements in the UK
