Erica started Spirit at the end of 2009, having become increasingly excited about the benefits that renewable energy can bring both in meeting our energy needs and in reducing CO2 emissions. She has a degree in Maths from Oxford University (1990), and more recently a masters in Applied Maths and Scientific Computing (2007), also from Oxford University, during which she investigated the mathematical solutions of the problem of using fixed (non-tracking) mirrors to maximise the concentration of the sun’s rays on solar panels. Erica has had a longstanding interest in green issues. Prior to launching Spirit she ran a Low Carbon Day for schools which took place in June 2010, supported by over 1600 schools. She has previously worked on the trading floor of NatWest Markets and in Corporate Finance at Deloitte and Touche.
