On-roof solar panels are one of the most cost-effective ways to generate cheap, renewable energy to power your home and its all about making the most of your roof space and maximising the surface area covered by photovoltaic cells. Installing solar panels on flat roofs is a very sensible thing to do, and with flat roof solar it's all about scale. The more panels that you can squeeze on your roof, the better the economy of scale. Flat roof solar panels are very cost-effective, and there are different types of flat roof mounting systems available. As with pitched roof solar panels, it's all about maximising the surface area with photovoltaic cells.
If you have a lot of land then it makes perfect sense to install ground mounted solar panels. Unlike roof-mounted systems, you get a lot more freedom with ground mounted panels as you can angle the panels perfectly south and set them up to be at the optimal pitch to maximise solar generation.
Ground mounted solar panels are all about scale, and tend to be very cost-effective if you're looking for a system with more than 20 panels and relatively short cable runs.
