Power Cut Protection for up to 2,400 kWh

The Sigen Energy Gateway provides power-cut protection for both single-phase and three-phase supplies.

  • On a single-phase supply, you can run up to three stacks through the gateway—enough storage to power the average UK home for nearly two weeks during a power cut.
  • On a three-phase supply, this expands to 50 stacks on a single gateway, making it ideal for larger commercial premises.

Businesses can benefit greatly from large-scale battery storage alongside a Solar PV system, as it allows them to store excess energy instead of exporting it.

FAQ's

The SigenStor has two available battery module sizes: 5 kWh and 8 kWh. Each system has six module slots, providing a maximum capacity of 48 kWh. You can have up to five SigenStor stacks per electricity supply, allowing for a total storage capacity of 240 kWh.

The Sigenergy SigenStor provides full power-cut protection for both a 100-amp single-phase and a three-phase supply.

However, you would need to purchase the Sigen Energy Gateway alongside your SigenStor, as the gateway is what provides the protection.

You can set the percentage of battery capacity to keep in reserve for a power cut using the mySigen app.

The SigenStor is available in a range of inverter sizes: 3, 3.68, 4, 4.6, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 kW. Each inverter size is a separate product, allowing you to choose the exact size for your system.

The number of MPPTs varies depending on the inverter model. Each MPPT has a voltage range of 100 V to 550 V, allowing for 4 to 12 standard 460 W solar panels to be connected to each MPPT.

Inverter Rating (kW) Number of MPPTs
3, 3.68, 4, 4.6, 5, 6, 7 2
8 3
10, 12 4

Yes, the SigenStor is IP66-rated for water and dust resistance. Sigenergy recommends installing a canopy if the unit is exposed to direct sunlight, but this is not mandatory.

The SigenStor can be installed both indoors and outdoors. Thanks to its Active Thermal Management system, there should be no performance issues in winter.

Active Thermal Management helps maintain the battery cells at an optimal temperature to extend their lifespan. However, if the temperature drops below -20°C or rises above 60°C, the system will shut down—though this is highly unlikely to occur in the UK.

Sigenergy has a companion app for the SigenStor called mySigen.

The mySigen app lets you monitor and control your SigenStor system in real time. You can check solar generation, battery status, grid usage, and EV charging, as well as set charging schedules to save money.

The app also uses AI to adjust to changing energy prices and weather, helping your system run more efficiently.

Vehicle to Home (V2H) and Vehicle to Grid (V2G) are EV charger features that let you power your home or send electricity back to the grid using your car's battery.

Sigenergy’s integrated EV charger supports these features, allowing you to use your car as an extra battery. You can rely on it during a power cut or export energy at peak times to save money.

The Sigenergy SigenStor uses lithium ferro phosphate (LFP) chemistry, known for its long lifecycle, better degradation resistance, and improved sustainability compared to previous lithium-ion chemistries.

How Does the SigenStor Compare to Other Battery Systems?

With so many options for battery storage, Sigenergy certainly had serious competition to keep in mind when developing the battery. With Tesla's Powerwall 3 currently dominating the market, and GivEnergy's broad lineup of battery systems, the SigenStor needed to really innovate to contend for the top spot.

It does just that, offering a fresh alternative for those looking beyond the usual choices. The Sigenergy SigenStor is a completely modular battery system, with a detailed app and an advanced AI setup to maximise savings from the battery.
