Power Cut Protection for up to 2,700 kWh

The Sigen Energy Gateway provides power-cut protection for both single-phase and three-phase supplies.

  • On a single-phase supply, you can run up to three stacks through the gateway—enough storage to power the average UK home for nearly two weeks during a power cut.
  • On a three-phase supply, this expands to 50 stacks on a single gateway, making it ideal for larger commercial premises.

Businesses can benefit greatly from large-scale battery storage alongside a Solar PV system, as it allows them to store excess energy instead of exporting it.

It depends on how much electricity you use, your tariff, and whether you have solar panels. Here's how a SigenStor cuts your bills either way:

  • With solar panels: without a battery, much of the electricity your panels make during the day goes back to the grid for a few pence. A SigenStor stores it so you can use it in the evening, instead of buying electricity at full price.
  • Without solar panels: your SigenStor can charge up overnight on a cheap off-peak tariff, then power your home through the expensive daytime and evening hours. It links up with smart tariffs such as Octopus Agile and does this automatically.

With solar and an 18 kWh SigenStor, a high-usage home could save over £2,000 a year.

(Based on a 4 kW system, 8,000 kWh annual usage and a switch from a flat-rate tariff to Intelligent.)

Yes, in most cases. Adding a battery is one of the best ways to get more from panels you already have, because you keep the electricity they make rather than exporting it cheaply.

We'll look at your current system during your assessment and recommend the best way to connect it: either alongside your existing inverter, or by connecting your panels straight into the SigenStor, which can make sense if your inverter is getting older.

Adding a battery to an existing system also qualifies for 0% VAT until 31 March 2027.

The SigenStor is built from stackable battery modules, so you choose how much storage you need.

A single large module stores around 9 kWh, which is more than a typical UK home uses in a whole day (around 7 kWh, based on Ofgem's average of 2,500 kWh a year). In practice, that's enough to run most homes from the evening right through to the next morning.

Need more? Each SigenStor holds up to six modules, for up to 54 kWh, and you can add modules later as your needs grow, for example if you get an electric car or a heat pump.

 Yes. Power cut protection comes as standard with our SigenStor systems. When the power goes, your home switches over to the battery almost instantly, so most appliances won't even notice. 

However, you would need to purchase the Sigen Energy Gateway alongside your SigenStor, as the gateway is what provides the protection.

You decide how much of your battery to keep in reserve for power cuts using the mySigen app. If you have solar panels, they'll keep working during the outage and top your battery up.

Yes, the SigenStor is IP66-rated for water and dust resistance. Sigenergy recommends installing a canopy if the unit is exposed to direct sunlight, but this is not mandatory.

The SigenStor can be installed both indoors and outdoors. Thanks to its Active Thermal Management system, there should be no performance issues in winter.

Active Thermal Management helps maintain the battery cells at an optimal temperature to extend their lifespan. However, if the temperature drops below -20°C or rises above 60°C, the system will shut down—though this is highly unlikely to occur in the UK.

Sigenergy has a companion app for the SigenStor called mySigen.

The mySigen app lets you monitor and control your SigenStor system in real time. You can check solar generation, battery status, grid usage, and EV charging, as well as set charging schedules to save money.

The app also uses AI to adjust to changing energy prices and weather, helping your system run more efficiently.

Yes. Sigenergy's DC charging module slots into your SigenStor and charges your car directly from your battery, your solar panels or the grid. At up to 25 kW, it's more than three times faster than a typical 7 kW home charger.

With a compatible car, it can also work the other way round, using your car's battery to power your home, for example during a power cut. Only some cars support this at the moment, so we'll check yours.

The DC charging module is an option for the 12 kW or 25kW options and starts from £2.300 installed.

 

Yes. The SigenStor uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, the most stable type of lithium battery used in home storage and far less prone to overheating. They also last longer and are made without cobalt or nickel.

Every module has several layers of protection built in: heat-resistant insulation between cells, constant temperature monitoring, a pressure release valve and its own fire suppression system. The whole system also shuts itself off automatically if it detects an electrical fault.

Your SigenStor battery and energy controller come with a 10-year manufacturer's warranty, which can be extended to 15 years if you register within the first 12 months. Guaranteed capacity after 10 years is 60%.

The Sigen Gateway, which provides your power cut protection, has a 5-year warranty, extendable to 10 years. The EV charging module has a 3-year warranty.

Spirit’s workmanship warranty is 5 years. Because our team is entirely in-house, you deal with the same people from design to aftercare. We're MCS certified, RECC members and Which? Trusted Traders.

All of our project managers and installers are in-house, and Vishal oversees them all and is in charge of making sure that every project goes smoothly and is installed on time. Vish has a wealth of experience with both commercial and residential projects, and directly manages every commercial project that we do, including our installations at Philip Dennis Foodservice in April 2024, and Hansgrohe's headquarters in September 2024.
