You can also check out our YouTube channel to see how Powerwall 3 compares to other battery systems.

FAQ's

The Powerwall 3 has a usable capacity of 13.5 kWh (15 kWh nominal capacity), and can be scaled up to 54 kWh with up to three DC Powerwall 3 expansion packs per unit. You can have up to four Powerwall 3s per electricity supply, giving you 216 kWh of total storage capacity.

Tesla Powerwall 3 provides full power cut protection for a 100 Amp single phase supply.

Currently, in order to install a Tesla Powerwall 3, you also need to install the Tesla Gateway 2 - meaning that power cut protection comes with the Tesla Powerwall 3 as standard.

You can set the percentage of battery capacity to leave in reserve for a power cut in the Tesla app.

Yes, Powerwall 3 has a built-in hybrid inverter with a capacity of up to 11.04 kW. The inverter can be set to 3.68, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, or 11.04 kW, and can be throttled down if you get restricted by the DNO.

The Tesla Powerwall 3 hybrid inverter has three MPPTs. Each MPPT has a voltage range of 60 V to 550 V, allowing for 3 - 12 standard, 460 W solar panels to be connected into each MPPT.

Yes, Powerwall 3 is IP67-rated for water and dust resistance. It is also flood-resistant up to 2ft (60 cm) as a result of the laser-welded chassis.

Tesla Powerwall 3 can be installed indoors or outdoors, and there should be no performance issues in winter due to the industry-leading Active Thermal Management that comes with Powerwall 3.

Active Thermal Management helps to keep the Tesla Powerwall 3's battery cells at optimum temperature to ensure lifespan, and make sure that the battery can be fully charged and discharged no matter the external temperature.

Tesla Powerwall 3 Storm Watch monitors local weather forecasts and charges the battery in advance of predicted storms, ensuring maximum backup capacity during potential power outages.

Tesla Powerwall 3 has a round-trip efficiency of 89% and a solar-to-home efficiency of 97%, making it one of the most efficient battery systems available in the UK market.

Tesla Powerwall 3 uses lithium ferro phosphate (LFP) chemistry, known for its long lifecycle, better degradation resistance, and improved sustainability compared to previous lithium-ion chemistries.

Get more storage with Powerwall 3 Expansion Units

What if you want more than 13.5 kWh storage capacity, but don't need to spend on a whole additional Powerwall 3 unit? Well, Tesla has released Powerwall 3 DC Expansion Packs, allowing customers to scale their storage capacity very cost-effectively.

Up to three expansion units can be added to each Powerwall 3, giving you 54 kWh of storage. You can install up to four Powerwall 3 units, allowing the total storage capacity to scale up to 216 kWh.

Starting from £5200 if fitted with a Powerwall 3.
