Fronius inverter

About the company

Fronius is an Austrian manufacturer founded in 1945, originally specialising in welding technology before expanding into solar energy in the early 1990s. It has since become one of the most respected inverter brands in the world, operating across more than 190 countries through 38 subsidiaries.

Fronius consistently tops installer satisfaction surveys for build quality, reliability, and after-sales support. Their inverters sit at the premium end of the market, typically 10–25% more expensive than mid-range alternatives, but that premium reflects a lower failure rate, a strong support network, and a manufacturer that has demonstrated genuine longevity in the industry. Fronius also now offers an integrated energy ecosystem including hybrid inverters, the Solar.web monitoring platform, the Wattpilot EV charger, and the Reserva battery storage system launched in 2025.

Monitoring

All Fronius inverters include built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity as standard, with free monitoring via the Solar.web platform, accessible via browser or the Solar.web app on iOS and Android. There is no separate datalogger required on current models.

Solar.web provides integrated data communication for all Fronius inverters, with free online monitoring available as standard. Simply connect the inverter to the internet via Wi-Fi, and the monitoring is set up via the smartphone app.

The platform gives a clear view of solar generation, household consumption, grid import and export, and, on hybrid systems, battery state of charge. It provides valuable insights into energy production, consumption, and battery status. Installers can also access systems remotely for diagnostics, fault alerts, and firmware updates.

For hybrid installations, Solar.web integrates with the wider Fronius ecosystem including the Wattpilot EV charger and Reserva battery, giving a single dashboard view of the whole system's energy flows.
