Solis inverter

About the company

Solis inverters are made by Ginlong Technologies, a Chinese company established in 2005 and publicly listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. What began as a specialist inverter manufacturer has grown into one of the largest in the world, Solis now holds the number one ranking in global residential inverter shipments and ranks third across all inverter segments globally, according to Wood Mackenzie. Their products cover residential, commercial, and utility-scale markets across the globe.

We have been installing Solis inverters for a number of years and find them to be reliable, well-supported in the UK, and excellent value. They are our standard recommendation for domestic solar installations.

Monitoring

Solis inverters use SolisCloud as their monitoring platform, available via browser and as a mobile app for iOS and Android. The SolisCloud dashboard shows real-time generation, household consumption, grid import and export, and battery state of charge where storage is installed. It also displays live output from each MPPT input alongside daily, monthly, and lifetime generation totals, useful for identifying underperforming strings.

The platform includes an intelligent fault alarm system that gives recommendations for resolving field faults quickly, alongside in-depth analysis tools for understanding the overall health of the system.

Installers can log in remotely via SolisCloud to diagnose faults and push firmware updates, meaning many issues can be identified and resolved without a site visit.

For hybrid systems with battery storage, SolisCloud also allows battery charge and discharge windows to be scheduled around off-peak electricity tariffs, maximising the financial benefit of time-of-use energy plans.
